YOU CAN BET ON GOLF IN LAS VEGAS

I was tooling south along Rampart Boulevard yesterday, at about 9:30 in the morning, after taking my mother-in-law to a diagnostic center where she had her guts examined.
The area I was in is riddled with golf
courses, homes on golf courses, and golfers. I noticed an uncharacteristic amount of heavy traffic, at a standstill actually, in the northbound lane. Then I noticed a ton of traffic cones and a sign that read: "PGA Tour" and I recalled that the "Frys's.com. Open" was happening.I'm not a golf guy; it's not violent enough for me, even though clubs are used, there's no blood. But most people don't think like me, and golf is immensely popular world-wide, and that includes Las Vegas.
Actually I did play golf once, when I was about 20. My best friend found this rent everything golf course so we gave it a try. We took a bag of clubs, just one set, because only one set gets used at a time, and two buckets of balls, that we later discovered were for the driving range.
After two holes we got tired of searching for our respective balls, and decided we'd each hit about 4 or 5, and walk around, and claim whichever ones we found, and hit them again.
In the end we agreed that whoever had the highest score was the winner. That made more sense to us because it meant that the guy with the higher score had obviously found more balls to hit than the other guy.
After all, isn't that what golf is all about, guys trying to find their balls?
Anyway, Las Vegas is a golfer's paradise; there are courses all over the place, with more in the works, and you can play almost every day of the year.
I always say you can find anything in Las Vegas and that pertains to Golf as well. Not only can you play it, you can watch the pro's play it, and you can bet on the PGA as well. Here's a look at one handicapper's odds on the upcoming "PGA Grand Slam of Golf 2006" .
I know a lot of you are fans of Poker too, so I found a way for you to combine both your loves, let's call it a threesome, although officially the game is known as "Three-Putt Poker".
If you want to play a golf related card game at home here's the link to the rules for bunch of such games.
For you true golf aficionados here's a link to a story about Jim Furyk and why he comes up a winner on the Las Vegas links.
