Business executives do not want to publicize anything negative about their operations; but when there is a general decline in an industry, the public will find out.
So, unlike private citizens, who downsize and penny pinch during periods of economic crisis, the opposite takes place in the business world.
There's no hiding the fact that because of the tough economic times the country is facing, despite the Federal Government's constant assurance that all is well, tourism overall is suffering.
But, this is Las Vegas, a town built on gambling, and gambling is the business of casinos, so rather than tighten their belts the giant operators, such as MGM Grand, are expanding and spending billions on new Las Vegas casinos.
In fact some industry experts are predicting a huge turnaround and this listing of new casinos under construction shows there is confidence in Las Vegas.
I was out over the past weekend and there was no lack of traffic from out of staters. The people I spoke to said they were being a bit careful with their discretionary income but they felt that Las Vegas was still a bargain compared to most destinations.
So stay tuned and keep your eyes and ears open for travel specials and other casino incentives because its times like these that brings the better offers.
