What Does A Las Vegas Concierge Do?

The Wikipedia definition of a concierge is: "A concierge (kôN-syârzh) (French) is an employee who lives on the premises of apartment buildings and serves as a general property caretaker."
In Las Vegas the job of Concierge is highly coveted, particularly at the largest Strip casinos, because it pays well and the tips can eclipse the salary.
But despite the glamour connected to this occupation in Las Vegas it's not an easy job.
A concierge is present to help all visitors to the property, but it's the high rollers, or "whales", as they are now called, that demand most of the Concierge's time, and they can be real ball busters.
I guess if you're going to gamble millions of dollars it's not unreasonable to demand, and expect to receive free tickets for the best seats, to the shows of your choice, even if they are at a competing casino.
Likewise, a free bottle of champagne valued at a thousand bucks or so, can be demanded without the blink of an eye.
A Concierge is expected to procure what a gambler wants and arrange just about anything under the sun, almost without limits, as long as it is legal.
Check out this fascinating article about Las Vegas Concierge's and some of the more outrageous and extreme requests they have had to fulfill.
