THE TROPICANA HOTEL AND CASINO

The Tropicana was one of the first of a new breed of hotel and casinos when it went up a number of years ago.
Although it is now greatly overshadowed by the mega-resorts it is still quite popular and many visitors consider a trip to Las Vegas incomplete without taking in the "Folies Bergere" show.
This video was shot from the corner of Tropicana Avenue and The Strip, which is one of the busiest intersections in Las Vegas.
When I made my first trip to Vegas, in 1984, The Tropicana was at the very end of the Strip. What was, at that time, wild desert with blowing sand, dirt and tumbleweeds, now looks as if it was always a paved over part of the thriving metropolis which has evolved.
