The Stratosphere Hotel and Casino is a unique property at the north end of The Strip that you don't hear much about but is well worth knowing.
This was a very controversial project, as were most things connected to Bob Stupak, its original owner. I recall all the back and forth maneuvering, and legal battles that ensued following the start of construction, but it eventually got built and lately there's new life being breathed into it.
This casino has appeal in that it is on The Strip, but because of its location it doesn't command the high prices of central Strip properties.
The Stratosphere
does have several features unavailable anywhere else such as its sheer size, at least height wise, and some dare devil rides atop the tower. Trips along The Strip are easy from The Stratosphere by bus. For 5 bucks you can get an all day pass for Las Vegas' brand new, way cool, air conditioned buses and travel up and down to your heart's content. Here's an extremely interesting travelogue written by some recent Las Vegas visitors who stayed at The Stratosphere.
And here's the link to a video posting I did about The Stratosphere last March.
