SURGE IN ONLINE GAMBLING
Source:www.cicd-volunteerinafrica.org

For what its worth the US Government isn't looking very good in the eyes of many foreign countries when it comes to the issue of banning online gambling.

It seems that the recent actions taken by the Federal government to illegalize the funding of US online gambling accounts may actually be a violation of a World Trade Organization (WTO) ruling. Since the Federal Government permits online betting on Horse racing, it is being charged with discriminatory behavior and the WTO has called for the US to treat all forms of Internet gambling equally.

The story is here, and this report expands on the issue and details how the US crackdown has actually caused an increase in online gambling in some ways.

Meanwhile the more progressive country of Poland has now legalized online Poker.

It will be interesting to see how the US Government reacts to the WTO charges but I wouldn't count on any abrupt about faces on the issue. This is an arrogant, self-appointed moralistic government that, despite its assertions that it spreads Democracy throughout the world, is determined to control the lives of its citizens.
