Here's the latest installment of our tour of Las Vegas and its environs.
Yesterday I ventured out in the cold to capture a bit of video of the "Red Rock Casino" for you so you can have a look at another part of Las Vegas that is known mostly to us locals.
The place was buzzing with activity. The parking lots were just about full, the wind was blowing, and everyone was walking double time due to the unseasonably cold weather.
These "locals" casinos are starting to be discovered by out-of-towners who are looking for a lower key, but still high-quality place to gamble, and have a meal. That's the reason casinos like "Red Rock" and "The Orleans" were conceived as upscale, but not up-priced properties.
The land it's built on was once part of a huge parcel, square miles huge that is, of choice, flat land that Howard Hughes owned. He named the area "Summerlein", which was his mother's maiden name.
Here's the link to another posting about The Red Rock Casino that I did last October, after I pretty much cleaned out their excellent buffet.
