This video takes you on a trip to "The Gold Strike Hotel and Gambling Hall" which is located in Jean, Nevada, about 30 miles south of Las Vegas on I15.
This place, and its sister property, "The Nevada Landing", are homes away from home for many Californians who have developed personal relationships with the management and employees of these modest sized, but full featured properties.
My wife got her start in the casino industry at "The Gold Strike" many years ago, and moved up through the ranks rapidly. She was Casino promotions Director for a while and arranged many of the Slot Tournaments which these casinos are famous.
You can see her mother investing some of her Social Security benefits in this video, and despite her losing streak, she came away with a few bucks more than she started with.
