PICK YOUR OWN FRUIT IN LAS VEGAS

Ordinarily you wouldn't think that fresh, hand-picked fruit would be available in the desert, but this is Las Vegas, where anything is possible.

This video takes you to The Gilcrease Orchards, located in pretty much the uppermost reaches of northern Las Vegas.

It's almost a totally different world up there with slightly cooler temperatures, and, in the residential areas, enough deciduous and conifer trees to make you think you're in an alpine setting.

The Gilcrease Orchards produce all types of fruits, and bottled apple juice. To insure that you get exactly what you want you get to pick your own.

I'm sorry that the growing season has just begun, and the trees are bare, but I had some errands to attend to in that area so I took the opportunity to do a video. I wanted to give you a look at a part of Las Vegas that a few years ago was rural and is now being developed at a rapid pace.

In a short amount of time those trees will be heavily laden with fruit and the place will be abuzz with activity.

So, for those of you considering a move here, but love your fresh fruit, there's no need to be concerned about being deprived.
