ONLINE POKER ROOMS TO FIGHT NEW LAW

The Republican led ban on Online gambling is facing several new challenges.

Many Online gambling sites have either been shut down or scaled back considerably due to the "back door" law that Republican Senator Bill Frist cleverly attached to the Port Security bill.

By doing this he saw to it that any lawmaker who was not opposed to Online gambling would have to vote against a form of potential terrorist activity in order to voice his or her opinion, and in the process run the risk of being called unpatriotic.

This type of underhanded legal maneuvering undermines a lawmakers' ability to intelligently cast votes, either for or against a given proposition, and points out just how backward our government is.

Frist made points for his party with the Southern Baptists, a tiny but highly vocal group that holds great sway with the Republican Party. By doing so he has denied adult Americans the right to spend their discretionary income as they choose.

But Online gambling site operators are organizing to fight this latest Draconian measure sponsored by the Bush administration in a variety of ways.

Here are the links to some of the steps being taken in an effort to reverse or find a legal way around the law:

"Poker Stars" is testing the law by claiming that Poker is more a game of skill rather than chance.

"DoylesRoom.com" is accepting VIP and High Roller clientele from Online gambling sites that have closed down, even if the client resides in the USA.

The actual legality of Online gambling, and the possible prosecution of Americans who engage in it are still fodder for debate, and are explored in this article.

The effects of the Online gambling ban didn't dissuade players from attending this past weekend's big tournaments.

Here's a link to a listing of Online Gambling sites that still acceptU.S players.
