Novel Ways To Travel On The Las Vegas Strip
Filed in archive LAS VEGAS CENTRAL by jim on January 28, 2008

Getting around the Las Vegas Strip is easiest by foot, but you have to be in pretty good shape to take in more than just a block or two, and that's when it isn't 100+ degrees.
Long gone are the days when you could casually drive a car up and down The Strip and easily park right outside the casinos and waltz right in.
It seems impossible that my wife and I did just that in 1984, during our first trip to Las Vegas, but we were always able to park within 100 feet of the main entrance to any casino, without having to cruise around waiting for someone to vacate a spot.
Now, you have to negotiate mammoth parking garages, some of which are a long, long distance from the casino itself, and eventually park in a space 100 yards from the nearest elevator. From there you have upwards of an eighth of a mile to traverse to the gaming areas.
This does not make visiting more than 2 or 3 casinos per day very possible.
There are busses, many of them now,
Including the swanky double-deckers, and other means of transportation, including taxis, for those with fat wallets, and of course, the Monorail
. But, as an alternative to hoofing it, which is the best way to get around, there are now some personal, small wheeled vehicles that can be rented for use on the sidewalks of the Las Vegas Strip, and these may be just what's right for some visitors .
