Another coup for the budding Las Vegas sports scene has occurred with the probable hosting of an ncaa Basketball Conference Tournament.

Las Vegas city officials, from Mayor Oscar Goodman on down, have been actively pursuing major sports teams for years in an effort to attract a franchise to the city, but they are also seeking other sports attractions.

The tournament would guarantee the winner a spot in the vaunted NCAA Basketball Tournament and will no doubt generate considerable interest in this part of the country.

There wouldn't be any betting allowed on the games but the event would still generate plenty of revenue for the hotels and casinos.
