With all the bright lights and high tech gizmos to be found in Las Vegas it's easy to forget that this is still cowboy country.
However, once a year, during December, Las Vegas plays host to the crème de la crème of the cowboy world when the "National Finals Rodeo" takes place.
Of all the rodeos in the world, including those that feature international competitors, the National Finals rodeo is the big one, as far as Americans are concerned.
For the first two weeks in December every cowboy and cowgirl in America who can make is in town for this event and the casinos go all out to try to attract visitors to their properties.
The National Finals Rodeo runs from December 6 through 15, but there are plenty of cowboy related activities before and after the rodeo.
Can you place bets on rodeo events? Come on, this is Las Vegas, of course you can bet on who will stay on a mad bull or horse the longest, and who will run the barrel course in the shortest time.
