This video gives you a more panoramic look at the snow covered mountains of Red Rock National Preserve in Las Vegas, and you get to see and hear the result of me tripping over a railroad tie.
You can also see the public picnic and barbeque area as well as some of the outdoor displays of native desert foliage surrounding the natural tortoise habitat, home of the famed "Mojave Max".
Mojave Max is a favorite attraction in Las Vegas and soon the annual school age children's contest will start and the kids will take their best shot at calculating the date on which the mighty Max will emerge from his winter hibernation.
Red Rock has several civilian volunteers or "Park Docents" as they are officially called, who selflessly give of their time to maintain the park, and tend to its creatures. They also conduct tours and educational classes and lectures with the hope that some of the kids will pursue a career in nature related fields.
Here's the link to the "Friends of Red Rock Canyon" for more information.
