Let Las Vegas' Bust Be Your Boom

As further proof of the bargains currently available in Las Vegas I offer an article outlining the reasons why Las Vegas is a bargain right now, but a bargain that will not last forever.

When I moved to Las Vegas some 20 odd years ago it was a small city with a small town atmosphere. Housing at that time was very reasonable, food was cheap, the off Strip pace was slow and friendly, and jobs were plentiful.

Over the years, Las Vegas, although still an excellent place to live and work, has become more like the big cities of the East where I grew up. Prices escalated, the pace became hectic All Over Town, and jobs are harder to come by, although not as hard as in most of the rest of the country.

Enter the economic downturn that is sweeping the nation. Housing prices in Las Vegas have dropped, making Las Vegas a bargain for buyers, and tourism has declined, making Las Vegas a bargain for tourists and gamblers.

I've been advising you for some time now about the reduced room rates and casino incentives being offered. This article confirms what I've been saying about the Las Vegas economy and the casinos' efforts to attract gamblers.

Be aware though that the picture here is far from bleak for the hotels and casinos. These places have a built in guard against lean times, and while they may offer heavy discounts when necessary, it won't last forever.

It's now the early morning of July 5th, and the latest reports are that casino and hotel traffic, despite high gas and airfare prices, is down only 3% from last year's 4th of July holiday.

Believe me, Las Vegas isn't folding its hand any time soon, if ever, so take advantage of the bargains while they're available.
