Las Vegas: It's The Bomb
Filed in archive LAS VEGAS CENTRAL by jim on July 11, 2008

Here's something else you can only find in, well, actually outside of, Las Vegas, big holes made by atomic bombs,
Back in the 1950's and 60's, believe it or not, watching atomic bombs going off, from a long distance, was actually a routine pastime for residents of and visitors to Las Vegas.
Those days are over but the memory lives on in the form of scarred earth at the Nevada Test Site where you can, with great restrictions, actually see them, close up, for yourself.
You can visit the "Nevada Test Site Historical Foundation" which is just off the Las Vegas Strip, or try to get onto one of the rare visits allowed to the actual Nevada Test Site itself.
