This video shows you some of the beautiful Lake Mead National Recreation Area, and The Valley of Fire Nevada State Park.
These are extremely popular side trip destinations for visitors to Las Vegas who want to view areas that were inhabited by dinosaurs.
You already saw part of the southern part of the lake, known as Lake Mojave, but Lake Mead is the main attraction.
I love rocks, especially big ones; boulders and mountains fascinate me. If you're into geological
formations or just beautiful mountainous scenery then the outer part of Lake Mead is for youThere's never a wrong time of day to visit but as an avid photographer I like early morning and late afternoon when the sun is low on the horizon and the crevices and other features of the mountains stand out better.
There are several ways to access Lake Mead NRA but if you start in the southern end and drive north you will end up at the entrance to the Valley of Fire State Park, which in my opinion, has better color, as the name implies.
Lake Mead is also where the Boulder or Hoover Dam is located.
The dam is a place that fascinates people to the point where even dedicated gamblers take some time out from gaming to check it out.
As is the case with all attractions close to Las Vegas there are all sorts of tours available that will pick you up at your hotel if you don't want to drive.
