It's always the "right" time to visit Las Vegas. You want heat? We got heat; everyone knows that, but it's not always hot. Although our winters don't rival say Buffalo, New York, we do have our cold weather, and we have about 6 weeks of true spring.
Now, we're finally starting to have a fall season that looks like fall. OK, it's not like Vermont with millions of trees dropping leaves of all colors
As the number of deciduous trees planted increases there's more and more fall foliage every year in Las Vegas. But this video takes you to Mount Charleston, where there's a whole other world only an hour's drive from The Strip, and you'll find it hard to believe you're still in the desert.
The Mount Charleston area is actually part of The Toiyabe National Forest and is much cooler as much as 30 degrees in summer at the highest elevations of about 10,000 feet, than Las Vegas.
There are several campgrounds available but reservations are necessary as they are quite popular.
Although coniferous trees comprise he majority of the cover, there are enough deciduous trees to add contrast and anyone who likes photographing this blaze of color will be pleasantly surprised
Unfortunately I missed the main color show due to higher than normal winds that stripped the trees earlier than usual that year. Be sure to take note in the video of the unique and attractive chalet style houses that have been built up there.
