One man's loss is another man's gain.

As long as the Las Vegas casinos are turning a profit I wouldn't exactly call it a loss, there's no doubt, however, that tourism is down a bit in Las Vegas and that has spawned some great discounts.

Even the struggling airline industry has offered some special discounts in concert with casino and hotel deals but these promotions are being touted as "Locals" discounts, meaning they're intended for Las Vegas residents.

So are these deals really only available to Las Vegas residents?

That's a yes and no answer. There are some standard discounts for Las Vegas residents that are always available and you have to show proof of residency to get them. But that's done just to get some extra traffic, during non-peak times, at the most popular attractions.

The best way to find out is to call these places and ask and I'll bet they'll be quite happy to accept people from Alaska to Zanzibar and all points in between.
