POKER UPDATE
by jim on September 30, 2006

Everyone has fears but there's no need to let them affect your Poker strategy.
You can't control everything in and about your life because it's affected by the actions of others. But, you can develop self-control, and in the process gain some insight into what your opponents across the poker table may have in mind.
When a serious illness almost brought my life to an end, and rendered me unable to handle the physical demands brought about by the daily grind of conventional employment, I learned how to overcome my fears and return to a productive live through self-discipline.
Basically I taught myself how to control my mind so that I could concentrate on the task at hand and push aside any negative or fearful thoughts.
The same principles can be applied to any endeavor that requires clear thinking and poker is an excellent candidate for this process.
Here are 2 installments from a series authored by Dr. Tim Lavalli, "The Poker Shrink," that deal with controlling poker fear.
This is part 2.
Good luck!
