Well, it looks like Auburn, whom I referred to as "powerful" last week, wasn't quite deserving of its lofty rating after being humbled by Arkansas.
In fact, it's a good thing I no longer bet college football because I would have taken a shellacking last weekend.
Such is the way with football.
It seems that the Top Ten is pretty well defined now and I don't see any potential upsets, but then again I'm talking about outright wins. When it comes to betting these games no one makes a straight-up bet so the spread comes into play.
Here's a betting line by "bogdog.com" that I present for your amusement.
Further down the line I see that UCLA takes on Oregon minus 9, which makes for an interesting proposition. It's hard to tell with these conference games though. Oregon is at home, and has played 2 ranked teams, Oklahoma, whom they beat by a point, but the game was riddled by poor officiating, in their favor. They got schmaltzed by California's Golden Bears, a good, but not great team.
UCLA is largely untested IMHO, but I think it's time for UCLA to prove itself, and this would be the perfect time for the team to make a move.
Alabama is minus 15, at home vs. Mississippi, and should cover that.
I'm surprised to see that Tulsa is only a 2 point favorite over East Carolina. These teams had a common opponent in Navy, whom Tulsa beat by a point, and East Carolina lost to by 5.
It's a home game for E. Carolina which is always considered to be worth 3 points, so essentially this is pretty much a straight up game.
Minor games like this make for interesting handicapping during an otherwise dull betting week.
If I were betting I'd be awfully tempted to go with Tulsa.
Have fun and good luck!
