Well, it was good run, and it's still a good season for them, but Rutgers dream of a shot at a National Championship is gone.
As I said last week, Cincinnati had a tougher schedule than the two top teams, and their 5 losses were to Top Ten Teams, so they were more than up to the task last Saturday when they tumbled Rutgers from the ranks of the undefeated.
Rutgers offense really disappointed me; they looked third rate, and didn't have it together at all, and proved me wrong. They can still make it to a BCS game, but they have to win their final 2 games, so we'll see what they're made of.
It's incumbent upon them to finish strong if the team hopes to attract the kind of talent they need to keep a winning program going.
I guess it was a no brainer but I did predict a close, high scoring game in last week's Ohio State-Michigan game. There's no doubt that these teams are top notch, but unless they end up playing each other for the title, which I hope doesn't happen, I still don't see either of them ending the season as #1.
Here's a look at the futures odds for the BCS championship game, which obviously predicts Ohio State, at 4/5 odds, to be one of the participants.
Tonight there's the #9 LSU vs #5 Arkansas game to ease you into the weekend's biggie, #6 Notre Dame at #3 USC, I never miss that one.
The only game that interests me for betting, if I were a betting man, is Florida minus 9½ at Florida State. Yes this is a huge rivalry, and Florida State is usually in the hunt for the title, but at 6 and 5, after a fairly soft schedule, I have to believe that Florida, with an outside shot at the title game in the balance, has got to cover the spread.
Have fun and good luck!
