College Football Betting

Well I went 3 and 1 last week which is a .750 winning average. We'll see if I can sustain that lofty figure for the rest of the season.

There weren't any real surprises last weekend, including losses by Michigan and Notre Dame, a pair of teams with great college football traditions that are used to winning.

But times change and in order to be a successful bettor a gambler has to keep up with these changes.

Have you noticed that the smaller schools such as Boise State and Virginia, and even some of the big schools, such as Rutgers, have been able to dramatically improve their football programs the past few seasons?

One reason for this is the reductions in the number of football scholarships. The ncaa brought about these changes a number of years ago so the then football powerhouses such as Alabama couldn't grab up every available top rated high school senior and prevent them from going to competing schools.

As a result the "lesser" school have been able to beef up their programs.

So, on to the games, let's see what looks good this week.

I like Louisville at minus 7 over Kentucky. It should be a high scoring game so you may want to take a look at the over/under line.

Hawaii at minus 17½ at UNLV interests me. Hawaii is good but UNLV has been tough at home so far and nearly knocked off #5 Wisconsin last week. Too bad it's still so hot here or I'd try to go to the game, but I can't deal with 100+ degrees for that length of time.

West Virginia visits Maryland, a 16 point underdog, but I have to believe that W.Va. can cover that spread.
Cincinnati gives 9 points, on the road, to Miami (Oh). These teams are pretty evenly matched, and I look for a high scoring game in this intrastate rivalry, with a slight edge to Cinncy.
