Except for the stunning Michigan loss, at home, to Appalachian State, and the relatively mild upset of number 19, Florida State by Clemson on Monday night, there weren't any surprises.
All the favorites rolled and even USC recovered from some early game sluggishness to win easily.
I'm really not surprised at the Michigan loss, even to an unranked team, because they always manage to lose an early season game. Still, I have to confess that I thought they were a bit over ranked, but then the Big Ten teams usually are.
Notre Dame got trounced. No surprise there, they aren't what they used to be, and perhaps never will again. There's just too much competition from the other big time college football schools, most of which are situated in more desirable geographic locales, such as Florida and California. Winters in the Rust Belt are no competition for sunny beaches.
With the season entering week 2, and now in full swing let's take a look at the games that might attract some betting action this weekend.
Navy didn't cover the line last week against Temple, and I doubt Rutgers, at home, will have any problems covering theirs, at 15-16, against Navy this week.
nebraska, away, looks good at minus 7.5 against Wake Forest.
I like UCLA over BYU by 7.5, and Iowa, at minus 22 looks good against hapless Syracuse.
Anyway you can check out the latest "Vegas.com" college football odds and see if you agree.
Have fun and good luck!
