I found an interesting chronicle of just how much of Las Vegas can be experienced in just 36 hours. This includes quite a broad experience of not just gambling but a good bit of sightseeing.

Naturally most people want to spend more time here, but you may have reason to be nearby, and think you can't do much in a limited amount of time and miss an opportunity to pack in a lot of fun.

Here's what one guy did.

I took that picture in Red rock Canyon in September. Red Rock is about 15 minutes from my house and is a very popular place for a side trip to see a more colorful part of the desert that most people aren't aware of.

For you hardy types there are extensive trails, and for the truly gutsy there is rock climbing available.
